Job Title: Chief Operations Officer in a Public Relations and Events Company

 
Job Profile: We are looking for a Chief Operations Officer for a PR and Events Company in Nairobi, Kenya.
Our client is an event marketing firm providing Public Relations, Event Management and Brand Management services a wide array of clients in different sectors.

The COO will drive campaigns for high profile clients who consistently look for innovative strategies to drive their companies and respective brands forward and increase their bottom line while enhancing the value of their brands.
We are looking for a talented and hardworking individual who need to energize and build their career in PR, Marketing,  Advertising, Brand Management  and Event Management.
The ideal candidate will be a Self-Starter with strong organizational and leadership abilities.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and institutionalize systems in the organization the organization
  • Execution of plans, campaigns, and projects to assure earnings, growth, and profit goals are achieved.
  • Plan, develop, and defends budget recommendations, work goals, measurements, and training requirements necessary to provide both quality and profitable service to Clients;
  • Prepare strategic public relations plans and media plans for clients with input from
  • relevant team members;
  • Recruit, orient and develop the various key staff to help in running the various core functions of the organization;
  • Checks all  projects progress against budget and advises the board on deviations from the plans;
  • Liaise with third parties/suppliers and agree on budgets for services and expenses
  • Holds regular meetings for both internal and external client review and evaluate progress on each account;
  • Identify most successful activities, problems and review overall objectives and strategy;
  • Plan and organize press briefings, press conferences and similar events for client activities;
  • Devise events that are experiential and unique to the market that will enable the target audience connect emotionally with clients products;
  • Ensure clients TOR’s are being met and all timelines and milestones are adhered to;
  • Assist in researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media for clients;
  • Assist in promoting news stories and features to the media for clients;
  • Provide guidance and training to team members as and when required;
  • Lead and motivate the team for enhanced value delivery and business growth;
Experience / Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations & Communications with minimum of 2 years’ experience in Media, PR, Events or related industry;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to able to drive business profitably;
  • Mature and responsible person who can work without or with very minimal supervision;
  • Ability to take charge and have a bigger picture and long term perspective for the business;
  • Fingertip knowledge of different public relations and communications issues in the market;
  • Avid in social media use with good appreciation of the strategic and brand value that social media can produce;
  • Strong media relations and engagement skills with excellent networks in the industry;
  • Exposure to basic financial management and accounting skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, both in English and Kiswahili;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with competing priorities;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with clients documents and information;
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to compose and produce a variety of communications materials and website updates for release to media and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing the desired  leadership;
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the media, government officials, employees, donors, stakeholders and the general public
